This progress report is for the Budapest research site of Work Package 5 (WP5).  WP5 will investigate modes of migrant performances and enactments of citizenship in Budapest.  Fieldwork research will begin in September 2008.

The first three months (January – March) were dedicated to the refinement of the conceptual framework and the concomitant research steps, which also included the operationalization of the basic concepts and the choice of research locations in Germany. The focus of this endavour during this period was on the concepts of “acts” (different from practices” and actions”), “scales” and “sites” of citizenship in general. The detailed guidelines provided by the Open University facilitated this process and kept it in tune with the other workpackages.
